Reporting to the University Chancellor, I founded the Office of Ombuds Services, which adheres to the Standards of Practice set by the International Ombuds Association. I have developed positive and sustained relationships with other university leaders, working collaboratively to provide a comprehensive set of organizational support services to constituents.
In 2021, the Chancellor’s Office promoted my position to Director and approved my request to expand office staff. Currently, our office includes four full-time staff members and a Graduate Research Assistant. Together, we provide services to employees, graduate students, and university leaders through visitor consultations, educational programming, and organizational change support initiatives.
As a nationally recognized expert and leader in the ombuds field, I have contributed to the profession’s ongoing development through invited speaking engagements, volunteer activities, and elected leadership roles within the International Ombuds Association.
Reporting to the University Chancellor, I served as an Administrative Intern and institutionalized infrastructures to increase summer school student enrollment. As part of this initiative, I successfully hired a Summer School Coordinator.
I developed positive relationships and collaborated closely with the Provost’s Office, the Division of Finance and Administration, the College of Arts and Sciences Deans, University Housing, Creative Communications, and the Center for International Education.
As the Associate Department Head designed, developed, and implemented training for tenure track and tenured faculty in the Educational Psychology and Counseling Department when the university adopted an electronic faculty productivity reporting system. Streamlined tenure and promotion procedures within the department, and mentored tenure track faculty preparation of retention and tenure and promotion material.
As the program coordinator for master’s and doctoral degree programs, as well as a graduate certificate program, I designed, developed, and institutionalized an online curriculum tailored for working adults in Instructional Technology. Over eight years, program revenue increased from 40Kto200K while maintaining a graduation rate of 95% or higher after the introductory course. Alumni achieved a 100% job placement rate in both public and private sectors.
The graduate certificate program received national recognition from the Association for Educational Communication and Technology (AECT), and in 2017, the master’s program was awarded the AECT Distance Education Division Best Practice Award. Additionally, I developed and implemented the Learning, Design, and Technology Doctoral program.
As the program coordinator, I led a team of faculty in designing, developing, and institutionalizing an online graduate advanced teacher licensure master’s program for technology specialists. I conducted institutional research for accreditation and authored accreditation and program review reports, which earned national recognition from the International Society for Technology Education and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. In 2012, this program was recognized as one of the top online graduate programs by U.S. News & World Report.
As the undergraduate preservice teacher education course coordinator, I designed, developed, and institutionalized a multi-section educational technology integration course that successfully met the accreditation requirements of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. Additionally, I oversaw and provided support to both tenure-track and adjunct instructors who taught one of the multi-section courses.
